WELCOME

My name is Stephanie Spear and writing and music are my passions.

I'm currently working for The Planetary Group as music publicist. I work with indie artists from a variety of genres, ranging from electronic to indie rock and alternative to hip hop. My focus generally lies in the indie rock/indie pop realm. I've had the opportunity to work with amazing artists like The Jezabels, Said the Whale, Big Black Delta, Sleeping in the Aviary, Eastern Conference Champions, Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps, Icaurs Himself, Rah Rah, Chasing Kings, Imaginary Cities, Margaret Cho, Saint Motel, Y LUV, and many many others. Through these artists I have been able to connect with some of the biggest tastemakers in the industry and form some invaluable relationships.

I graduated from the University of California in Santa Barbara in June 2009 with a major in Sociology and minors in Multimedia Writing and Spanish. While in school and since then I've had many opportunities to gain experience in different facets of the entertainment industry. I created and have edited a music blog for over three years. I have presented and helped book and promote a show at Hollywood's Harvard & Stone. I interned for the music news portion of the music festival creamery Ice Cream Man, the movie/television/web production company BermanBraun, and finally the radio promotions department of The Planetary Group before being hired as a tour publicist in June of 2010.

Through each of these experiences, I've learned a variety of skills and tools. I've learned much about the entertainment industry and many of the key aspects of promoting a release. More generally, I've learned to think analytically, solve problems, work as a team, and manage my time efficiently. I have also learned how to acheive my goals by hard work and self-motivation. These tools are just a few among many others that I will certainly take with me for any future endeavors.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to music of all kinds, attending concerts, hiking, cooking, jewelery making, and taking road trips.
